Dr Lina Evgeni

Dr. Lina A. Evgeni is a Reproductive Biologist, specialized in the analysis and cryopreservation of sperm and testicular tissue, with many years of experience in the evaluation and preservation of male fertility.
She graduated from the Department of Biology of the School of Sciences of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in which she was admitted first among the candidates of her year. She then studied by scholarship at the Medical School of the University of Nottingham in Great Britain, from which she obtained a Master’s degree (M.Phil), under the supervision of Prof. Simon Fishel, pioneer of in vitro fertilization and inventor of the SUZI (Sub zonal Insemination) method. During her postgraduate studies, she was trained in the andrology laboratory of England’s leading hospital Queen’s Medical Center, in the techniques of basic and functional semen parameters evaluation, as well as in the applications of sperm and testicular tissue cryopreservation.
She is a PhD holder from the Department of Medicine of the Democritus University of Thrace and a research associate of the Postgraduate Studies Course entitled ‘Human Reproduction’, in which she participates since its commencement, with lectures and practical laboratory training workshops.
Certifications
She has been working since 1995 in the field of Laboratory Seminology, as a founding member and director of the andrology laboratory of the largest and first certified sperm bank in Greece. She is head of the quality assurance system, in collaboration with the External Quality Control program of ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology).
She is certified by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) as a trainer for basic sperm analysis. As part of her scientific activities, she actively participates in educational seminars, as a speaker at conferences and as a writer of scientific articles and books, among which her first book was published in 2010 entitled ‘THE FUNCTION OF MALE SPERM’.
Research studies
Part of her research studies is included in the 6th Edition of the WHO laboratory manual for the examination and processing of human semen (2021), constituting the first Greek participation in the new world reference limits for basic semen parameters.
Through advanced applications in the laboratory management of semen, she provides state-of-the-art, personalized services to couples facing male infertility and to women without a partner, who want to experience the joy of motherhood.
