1st Balkan Meeting for I.V.F

The Hellenic Society of Reproductive Medicine (H.S.R.M.) and the Greek Medical law and Bioethics Association jointly organized the “1st Balkan Meeting for I.V.F” on 24-25 January 2025, in Alexandroupolis.

The event examined the legislative pluralism and bioethical challenges of I.V.F in the Balkans, where religion and legislation influence issues such as artificial insemination, cryopreservation and surrogacy. Greece has distinguished itself in the field, particularly due to its liberal legal framework, which has made it an international medical tourism destination.

The event could not have been missed by “Crygonia” represented by its director, Dr. Lina A. Evgeni. In her speech she referred to the specific legal issues concerning the operation of the Sperm Cryopreservation Bank, especially the management of sensitive donor data, the traceability of samples, the limits of use and the availability of donation material, in the context of the application of the current Greek and European legislation.
